Step into Dog Ear Books during the Downtown Russellville's June Art Walk to listen to the Spring performance of Nocturne Strings! The night's theme is "Musical Adventures," with music about:
* Weather - selections from each of Vivaldi's Four Seasons
* Russia - Rimsky-Korsakov's In the Monastery
* Marriage - A handful of songs, including Mendelssohn's Wedding March and an arrangement of the Beatles' When I'm Sixty-Four
* The Grace of God - A beautiful arrangement of Amazing Grace by the contemporary composer Jennifer Higdon
* Daring Feats - A handful of songs, including the James Bond Theme

The performance is free and open to the public.

You are also invited to come an hour early (6 PM) to hear The D Strings perform. The D Strings consist of our violist and cellist (who switch to violin) and two of their sons on viola and cello. Together they will be performing a variety of songs from classical pieces and tangos to movie themes (such as Everything is Awesome from the Lego Movie) and a rock song (U2's With or Without You). That performance will also be at Dog Ear Books, and is likewise free and open to the public.

As the school year comes to an end and Summer begins, we are making plans for a celebration. We are hosting a kid's event called Chalk Fest! We have so many exciting things planned for you:
- Interactive chalk murals + chalk art - Great for photo ops!
- Kid's drawing area - We will have an open area and chalk for the kids to create their own art.
- Snow Cones
- Face Painting
- Hopscotch Competition
- Live music with James Reynolds!

KhamAnderson Photography will be with us taking photos in the alley. The beautiful alley will be set up for summer photos. A 5x7 photo will be $7 per pose or $5 each if you get more than one pose. You can pick up your photo at next weekend's market.

Join Park Interpreter Matt at the Bear Cave parking lot for an interesting walk amongst the giant sandstone boulders and slot canyons of the Bear Cave area. This is a relatively easy ½-mile hike that is great for the whole family. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring water.

Join Park Interpreter Sam on this 1.25-mile strenuous hike along Cedar Creek through the upper canyon. We will witness firsthand some of the unique geology of this area, cross the creek on several scenic bridges, and enjoy all of the natural sights and sounds the trail has to offer. Kick off the summer season with an outdoor hiking adventure in Arkansas State Parks! What better way to embark on your next hiking adventure after creating your own hiking stick at Lake Dardanelle State Park. Hiking sticks make hiking more fun. They let your arms get into the act, so you cover ground more easily and help you keep your balance. The workshop begins at the visitor center with the selection of the “perfect” stick. Throughout the morning you will shave, carve, and decorate with a wide variety of embellishments: beads, wood burners, paint, and feathers. We will then hike Lake Dardanelle State Park’s Meadowbrook Trail where you will earn your first hiking stick medallion. We will also celebrate National Trails Day as we venture on the Meadowbrook Trail. The workshop has limited space, so please register by calling (479) 967-5516 to sign up.
