This summer will mark the 12th season of Sunset Cinema, which aims to enhance the quality of life in the Russellville area by bringing together members of the community. Sunset Cinema is an outdoor movie theater which operates on the lawn of the Lake Dardanelle visitor center. The cost is $1 per person, children under 12 are free. These family-friendly events brought over 2000 attendees last year. The two showings scheduled this summer are on Friday, June 8, Despicable Me 3, and Friday, June 22, Space Jam. Each showing will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. Activities will take place prior to each showing starting at 7 p.m. In the event of rain, subsequent dates have been scheduled.

Explore the wonders of Lake Dardanelle and the Arkansas River aboard the state park tour boat (weather permitting). Enjoy abundant wildlife, amazing history, and astounding views of the river valley throughout this 1-hour cruise. There is no fee for the tour, but space is limited. You must register for the tour. Join Park Interpreter Sam at the Rock House Cave parking lot to go on an exciting hike to experience the wonders of erosion first-hand! Explore the unique geology and habitat of a rock glade, and discover what caused the formation of the Turtle Rocks! This hike is a 1/2 mile and includes walking across uneven surfaces, so bring water and sturdy shoes.

Join Park Interpreter Sam at the Bear Cave parking lot for an interesting walk amongst the giant sandstone boulders and slot canyons of the Bear Cave area. This is a relatively easy ½-mile hike that is great for the whole family. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring water.

Nature is awesome at night! Are you brave enough to take on the nighttime forest? Join Park Interpreter Matt at the Cedar Falls Overlook for this short night hike. We will listen to the night sounds, learn about nocturnal animals and test our night vision. Be sure to bring a flashlight! 

Lake Kayaking Excursion

Meeting Place: Visitor Center

Kayaking the coves of Lake Dardanelle gives you the opportunity to get closer view of birds and wildlife, you may not have had before, all from the safety of your boat. Join a park interpreter for a lake excursion via kayak, sign up at the visitor center by calling (479) 967-5516 at least one day in advance. Please specify when you sign up if you want a tandem (2 person) or solo kayak. We will meet at the front desk of the visitor center.
